Election Anxiety

With the upcoming presidential election only a few weeks away, most attentive citizens are being impacted by the incessant political campaign messaging, news reports, and opinion-based misinformation bombarding us from all angles. The polarization of the US electorate is apparent and reinforced by voices on social media, talk shows, podcasts, and everywhere people lend their eyes and ears. Unfortunately, confirmation bias and media bubbles also spawn animosity for opposing views and ideas that often increase internal tensions leading to heightened anxiety, anger, frustration, and a slippery slope toward general unwellness.

If you're interested in more information about how political engagement might be negatively impacting you, and want some ideas on how to prevent your nervous system from going off the rails in the weeks leading up to November's election (and its aftermath), check out this podcast provided by the American Psychology Association, and this article about the impact of election stress.
