All current groups offered through Tempo Counseling are open support groups designed to help members 18 and older, of all cultural backgrounds, races, religions, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
Each group will meet once per month according to each group's calendar.
The group will be open format, meaning there is no specific start or end (i.e., members can attend as many or few sessions as they prefer, and new members can start at any time). The online delivery format will be via video platform.
Tempo Counseling currently provides group services at no cost.
Group sessions are led by a licensed mental health practitioner.
Once you have filled out the initial registration information on our contact page, a group leader will reach out to you to conduct an initial screening for goodness of fit. These groups are not intended for people struggling with significant mental health conditions, such as severe personality disorders, current suicidal or homicidal ideation, mania, or psychosis. Group leaders have the right to refuse group membership to any individuals inappropriate for a support group setting. If a higher level of care is determined necessary, the group leader will make proper referrals based on individual needs.
Group members have rights as well as responsibilities. It is expected that group members will be active participants, but members can decide for themselves their level of participation, how much they wish to reveal, and choose when they want to share. The ethical guidelines of the American Counseling Association (ACA) will be followed.
To get the most from this group experience, members are encouraged to suggest how it will be conducted, but the following general rules will be followed. Failure to respect and/or abide by group ground rules may lead to removal from group.
Anything said within the group is considered confidential with limited exceptions (intent to harm oneself or others, suspected endangerment of children or elderly, court ordered disclosure, or any other circumstance in which the group leader is professionally obligated to take direct action in order to ensure general safety).
Group members are not required to participate in any way which causes discomfort.
Members will be respectful of each other’s opinions, race, religion, and conversational space.
Group members are expected to attend online meetings from a private space and are prohibited from recording sessions.
Members cannot attend sessions under the influence of alcohol or other mind-altering substances.
